These tool’s primary uses is not really to build the best SEO’d site but rather improve on the amount of time spent, in short reducing hours for completing a set of tasks. Being able to cope with both project work (which pays regularly) and extra curricular activities like the Busby SEO Challenge really needs one(me) to optimize not only the site but the time used.

They are readily available but it costs money and if you are willing to invest or in my case if my boss is willing to invest then they help a lot in managing the working time used up on SEO.

Hey boss, you reading this? There a few things I need you to buy for me to get the job done. Then again I'd settle for a raise or at least a bigger vut of the commissions.

I have given myself an hour to two a week to do some experiments on the Busby SEO Challenge on top of what I’m already doing and by looking at my MS Project schedule it looks really tight. Well it wouldn’t be if I was willing to put in a few extra hours, but I’m not about to sacrifice my precious free time just for it. So I will have to be more creative in using up the time I have allotted myself.

As this is the first week that I have put into this SEO contest, I haven’t really been able to gauge the performance since it is a little too early to look at the stats. The KPI graphs have actually nothing on them other than a few numbers that are again to early to use as a metric for any performance.

Anyway for this competition it will be the use of RSS feeds and cross promotion that I will be experimenting on. I have had great success with generating traffic using these methods but as to sustained SEO effects only this challenge will determine its effectively.

Other than that it will be all standard practices throughout with perhaps the exemption of the content spinning to keep my posts updated considering that I probably won’t have time to keep the post count up throughout the summer. This will mean a little more time spent on each post related to the Busby SEO Challenge to be able to make the spun posts credible, but then I think that that is time well spent.

By joining this competition it gives me an opportunity to break the daily monotony of tasks that I have to do repeatedly (which I'm not saying is boring) and would also allow me to try out a few new techniques and concepts I have at the in my mind. These experiments will in addition give me the freedom to do what I want to do without a few nasty clients getting on my back for not doing things their way. In short the freedom to do what I need to do to get the SEO job done with whatever resources I have at my disposal.

While that all sounds good having the freedom and all, I will have very limited time to do this and will have to squeeze this Busby SEO Challange somewhere in between my daily work. After all I'll only do this during work, who wants to use up their precious time doing this kind of stuff at their leisure time, Not me.

Well to begin things in the Busby SEO Challenge, I will from now until the competition end will have only one entry which is this site on this particular sub domain. My reason is actually quite simple and that is I simply do not have the time to set-up other sites and having a single site to work on seems more logical given the among of time I am willing to give up, which is not much at all. This does mean though that I will have to be more creative in the experiments that I do even though I will not have another site to gauge the results of the experiments against(except perhaps the production sites?).
